Currently listening to: 'Takk...' by Sigur Ros.

'Takk...' is a triumph. I've liked Sigur Ros for a few years now, but none of their albums has merited my complete approval until now. Fans will instantly recognize the high pitched vocals and dreamscape composition, but unlike previous efforts, 'Takk...' is completely and eminently listenable, even for the uninitiated. Sigur Ros, hailing from Iceland, has always been a bit more accessible than Godspeed You Black Emperor, but this time the group draws more than a few pop elements into their familiar mix, creating a more structured and less abstract atmosphere than ever before. The second track, 'Glosoli', includes a surprising buildup into an explosion of electric guitar near the end of the song, something unprecedented on a Sigur Ros album.

If you're a fan of Sigur Ros' earlier work, I will still recommend this album. If not, this is a great jumping on point for anyone with a taste for the incomprehensible dream.
